Makmalzoloto (MZDK) combine is the main production unit of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC. Its tax deductions form 95% of the budget of Toguz-Torous region.
MZDK was established on the basis of Makmal gold ore deposit, the one that was discovered and surveyed in 1969-1977 years and put into operation in 1986.
Makmal gold deposit is located in Toguz-Torous region of Djalal-Abad oblast of the Kyrgyz Republic in 630 km from Bishkek City. Actual elevation is 2350-2800 meters above the sea level.
The nearest railway stations as follows: Balykchy City (465 km) and Djalal-Abad City (170 km). Highroad service is carried out all-year-around through motor-road Bishkek — Kazarman (630 km).
Numerical strength of MZDK workers is more than 1200 persons.
During the period from 1986 till 1996 years Makmal gold deposit was developed with an open-cut mining. In accordance with technical design documents the productive capacity of extraction and ore processing was 500.0 thousand tons per year. Over the 10 years period of combine project activities there were produced 21.7 tons of gold.
In pursuance of resolutions of the Kyrgyz Republic Government No.722 dated December 10, 1997 “About prolongation of Makmalzoloto plant operation term”, works were conducted related to extraction and processing of the low-grade ores of out-of-balance stockpile that was formed in the course of pit exploitation. In 2003 the affiliated branch of MZDK finished the development of Makmal gold deposit with an open-cut mining.
For the purpose of prolongation of combine functioning term, management of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC made a decision about drawing up of working project for follow on development of Makmal gold deposit reserves with underground method lower than 2500m horizon.
