Tereksai Mine Site is located in Tereksai village of Chatkal region of Djalal-Abad oblast of the Kyrgyz Republic. The actual elevation is 1800-2500 meters above the sea level. Tereksai Mine Site is one of the oldest mining enterprises of the Republic. For a long period of time it was oriented for extraction of antimony with accompanying mining of gold. At the beginning of 90th the main product of Tereksai Mine Site has become extraction of gold at Terek gold deposit. Starting from the beginning of 2000 and up until the present time due to depletion of this gold deposit reserves the current source of Mine Site raw materials is Terekkan gold deposit.
The systematic study of geology and subsoil assets in the given region commenced in 1934 and during the same year there was discovered a gold-bearing deposit Terekkan. Its exploration was finished in 1978.
In 2002 on the basis of Djalal-Abad geological exploration crew of the State Agency for Geology and Mineral Resources under the Kyrgyz Republic Government and Terek-Sai Mine Site of Kadamzhai antimonic combine Tereksai Mine Site branch of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC was established. The branch is engaged in development and geological survey of a gold deposit and other associated works. At the present moment Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC has a license for development of two ore bodies of Terekkan gold ore deposit, as well as for development of Dalniy area of Terek gold deposit.
Productive capacity of the Mine Site is more than 100 thousand tons of ore per year. Ore is processed at beneficiation plant with receipt of final products in the form of sulphide gold-bearing float concentrate with average gold content about 40 gr./ton. Every year about 150 kilograms of gold in concentrate is produced. Before (until 2003) products of beneficiation plant were processed at Kadamzhai antimonic combine (KAC), but in the view of absence of the required reagents, which were used in the course of its processing into gold- antimonic alloys, supply of which was stopped by one of Kazakhstan enterprises, this processing line was closed. At the present moment float concentrate is sold to the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Commercial reserves of gold in Tereksai zone, which also includes the Perevalnoe gold deposit, are about 20-25 tons of gold. In accordance with the forecasts at gold deposits of Tereksai group in total (Terekkan, Terek, Chapchama and Chaartash gold deposits) there are about 70 tons of precious metal.
Numerical strength of works at Tereksai Mine Site branch is 395 persons. More than 70% of engineering and technical personnel has a multiyear length of employment and extensive work experience in the sphere of geology and mining industry.
